Each year, the New Hampshire State Society sponsors a Cherry Blossom Princess to represent the Granite State at the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.

Every year in April, young women from across the country represent their states and territories during a week of education, leadership, and cultural activities which include a Congressional reception, a grand ball, and visits to foreign embassies. The week-long festival culminates with the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. One princess will be chosen by a spin of the wheel to become Cherry Blossom Queen, representing the United States in Japan later this spring.

Previous New Hampshire Cherry Blossom Princesses have called it an "unforgettable experience" and "a great way to meet many successful women from all over the country."

Women interested in representing the Granite State as the New Hampshire Cherry Blossom Princess must be single, between the ages of 19 and 24, and a high school graduate. Along with a completed application and a phone or in-person interview, candidates must submit two short essays about why they want to represent New Hampshire at the Cherry Blossom Festival and what they believe makes New Hampshire unique. Candidates must be available for all scheduled activities during the Festival and are responsible for their own room and board while in Washington. The NHSS will cover all entry and gift fees.

Applications are typically made available in November or early December of the year preceding the festival. Visit the National Conference of State Societies website for more information and the national application.

Contact Christina Cuzzi, secretary of the NHSS, at president@nhstatesociety.org for more information about the Cherry Blossom Princess program or to obtain an application.
